You do not need to go to court to sort out your divorce or separation.  Mediation is a process that avoids the stress, delay and expense of going to court.

Mediation reduces conflict and helps you communicate.  When a relationship breaks down it is often difficult to talk about the arrangements that you need to make.  In mediation, the mediator will sit with both of you, and help you have discussions about the issues that are important to you.

The mediator is completely neutral and impartial.  You decide what it is that you want to talk about. You decide what is important to you and your family.  The mediator will work with you to come up with constructive and long lasting solutions.

Mediation is much less expensive that going to court. You do not need to pay for barristers or solicitors to represent you.

Mediation is quicker than going to court and you set the timetable.  On average mediation takes between 4 – 6 sessions, but this will depend on your own particular circumstances.

The mediator will provide you with a summary of the decisions that you make in mediation so that you can consult your own solicitor, and take legal advice on what is best for you.  Your solicitor will complete the legal formalities to ensure that your decisions are legally binding.

Mediation works because it helps you make your own decisions about your future.
